Searles Castle Wedding – Lauren & Jared

Lauren and Jared and I are old pros at the wedding gig. You see, I was at their intimate, small wedding last September; so when their full-blown bash finally happened this November, we were all old pros! It was a perfect fall day … crisp air but beautiful skies and a super, amazing bridal party to boot. And because Lauren and Jared suffered from my “oh-my-god-fall-is-insane-how-do-I-get-all-the-work-done” lack of a blog post, they are going to get two parts. Here’s part 1! Lauren & Jared – I’m almost sad. Each year I’ve had the pleasure of anticipating our day-o-fun together and now we are heading into 2012 with no wedding! I see only one answer to this dilemma – start making lots and LOTS of babies so I can come take photos of them! In all seriousness, I treasure the fact that out of our business relationship a friendship has been made and I’ve been introduced to your wonderful family. I feel so lucky that we have a future of drink dates and staying in touch ahead. XOXO

The day started as it should … with beautiful details and two of my favorite things – pearls and navy!

Lauren’s dress at her first wedding was fun and included a gorgeous bow … and her dress for this wedding was so stunning. It took our breath away when we walked in.

Best friends are such a gift … and this best friend is AWESOME.

Lauren’s shoes made me SWOON. In the words of my girl Whitney Bower Imaging … A-MAZE.

Lauren, you are gorgeous. Most importantly, you have the nicest, kindest heart. Being gorgeous inside is few and far and I think you are a treasure!

I’d say everyone was pleased!

We were SUPER tight on time … when we pulled up at St. Anselm’s for the ceremony we had about 8 minutes until the start of the ceremony. MAJOR KUDOS to Lauren who agreed to head somewhere onto campus and shoot for a few minutes. We were so tight on time and if I was the bride I would NEVER had agreed thinking we didn’t have enough time. THANK YOU for trusting me!

Gotta love happy bridesmaids … and gorgeous bouquets. I’m on a major navy-grey-yellow obsession lately so anytime one of those colors appear, I’m pretty psyched.

St. Anselm’s college did not disappoint. STUNNING ceremony venue.

There is something about the way Lauren & Jared look at each other … makes your heart happy to see such genuine love.

I’m ending off part 1 with these formals. xoxo

My most favorite videographer. Ever. / Connecticut Wedding Photographers

I feel so lucky that John and I crossed paths. I was scoping out an up-and-coming videographer to help me produce a video for my site and he responded to my inquiry. Out of almost 100 emails, it was John’s email that I wanted to respond to; there was just something about his email that made me think we would work well together. Fast forward to today – John and I are working together on the majority of my weddings and I feel so honored to have him there each time. I most appreciate his kindness and the commitment he gives each couple … and the personalized touches he does for each and every video. I had to share the latest – from a wedding we shot together last month. Congrats Lauren & Jared! It was an amazing day to be a part of and I loved seeing this teaser!

The Waterview – Cristina & Christian Part 1 / Connecticut Wedding Photographers

I have the most patient, wonderful couples. Seriously. F’real. Cristina and Christian – I have to start out by thanking you for your patience with this blog post. As a thank you, there will be a part two with more photos! I’ve just totally slacked lately with the blog due to workload/editing and I appreciate you letting me take the time to do this right!

C&C – um, could we have expected a more perfect day for you both? I should have known at our first meeting, when I felt this perfect connection with you both that we’d end up shooting your engagement session on the MOST perfect day of weather and that your wedding day would be JUST PERFECT, too. I should have known the forecast would be wrong and you’d get the most incredible fall foliage day, complete with your outdoor ceremony (though it may have been freezing), no rain and the most MAGICAL snow storm I have ever witnessed and photographed in my life. I will never forgot the moments we had, standing in the snow, laughing and just taking in the moment. I live for moments like that!

The day started off as it should – with LARISSA LAKE and her team. To all my 2012 brides – she is the BEST DECISION you will make when it comes to wedding day glitz, glam and beauty. I literally freak out when a bride of mine books her because I know what incredibleness to expect.

It was SO early in the morning I had to wait for the sun to come up before I had my way with the details! The sun was JUST coming up here but the day was GREY GREY GREY.

Another of my brides had worn these shoes (HOLLA, KARA!) and I really loved them. I get excited when I see my favorite things!

Um, hi C; you are gorgeous .. even at 7 am in a crowded hotel room.

Love the reaction when everyone sees the bride for the first time!

Cristina and Christian did the BEST THING POSSIBLE. If you read my blog then you already know I am talking about the FIRST LOOK.

There are NO WORDS for these two. I can’t handle it. G.O.R.G.E.O.U.S. doesn’t even begin to cut it.

Both C&C came from incredible families. Thanks for welcoming Stefi and I with so much kindness!

Cristina had the sweetest bridal party – hi ladies!

Love this photo. ‘Nuff said.

The snow hadn’t come yet – we still had fall flowers and foliage scattered around The Waterview.

This spread is one of my favorites. Caption not needed.

I’m ending part 1 of Cristina & Christian’s wedding with one of my FAVORITE PHOTOS EVER. Cristina, you are so fierce and gorgeous I can’t handle it. Was this when I asked Christian if he could even believe you were marrying him? OH MY. That sure came out wrong! For everyone else – what I meant to say (and I clarified for them there) was that it was amazing to see Christian gazing at Cristina with this ” I can’t believe I am lucky enough to marry you” look on his face. I love LOVE.

FOUR. / Connecticut and Boston Wedding Photographers

Four years ago today, I married my husband in my family church, surrounded by candlelight and our loved ones. We were 24 years old, had dated since the middle of college and SO YOUNG. (I’d like to stress I think I am SO YOUNG still, so four years ago we must have been middle schoolers or something.) Jeremy and I joke a lot that we don’t know what our parents were thinking letting us get married when we came home engaged at 23 years old. I didn’t even have a 401K yet. (Dad, that’s for you.)

For all my brides, stop reading if you don’t want to hear the brutal honest truth; it’s been a hard four years. No one told me that marriage wasn’t anything but a giant honeymoon ball of deliciousness and I can assure you it hasn’t been! What it has been is this incredible journey of work, effort, commitment and love that we both have for each other that beats out all the hard stuff and makes it worth it every single day we have together. I can say with the upmost honesty and confidence that I appreciate Jeremy more today than I did when I stood in my church and vowed to love him for the rest of my days. To watch him support and love me this past year has made me realize that God has this incredible life plan for me and that Jeremy was meant to be a part of it from the beginning – and that his support along the way is one of the main reasons so many of my dreams came true this year. I wrote this in a post a few months ago but it says exactly the right thing and so I am saying it here again today:

” … But most importantly, my husband … who deals with a wife who is never home, checks emails in bed, texts clients under the dinner table, goes to weddings dateless, attends family and friend parties without me, lets me show him every little photo from every shoot and who is my sounding board for everything – I adore you. Thank you for being my biggest cheerleader; I couldn’t get through any day without you.”

So Jeremy,  in the words of a recent groom Bryan (whom I adore!) who said it perfectly on his wedding day, ” I am blessed to be able to spend my life with you.” Here’s to 4 … hundred more. xoxo

Riverview Wedding – Christine & Shawn / Connecticut Wedding Photographers

Prior to my full-time photography days, I worked with an amazing group of people at a law firm in CT.  I L.O.V.E.D. my job and so when the day came to decide whether I’d take the plunge and leave to pursue photography, I was a mess. We all know I am a tad emotional so the day I finally gave my notice, there were a lot of tears. What I didn’t think about was the fact that I may have the amazing opportunity to photograph some of the people I was leaving behind! Sooo when Christine (an former coworker) contacted me about shooting her wedding I was thrilled! I was lucky enough to not only see a few familiar faces but I met Shawn and FELL IN LOVE with them as a couple. There is just so much joy, affection, admiration and respect between the two of them and I was honored to witness their emotionally beautiful day. C&S – I wish you a life of insane joy and many nights snuggling together with that pup, Miss Lucky!

We were greeted by a happy (and calm) bride.

LOVE ME some Badgley Mischkas! And because of this, they deserve two photos!

Lately, I’ve been thinking about dress shots … and although I like a nice full-length shot, sometimes the details are just amazing and stand alone just fine. SWOON over this detailing!

I love when brides head into their rooms and get dressed. So much anticipation in the air!

This sweet group of flower girls were amazing, well-behaved and excited to be a apart of the big day.

I LOVE Shawn’s face when he turned around and saw Christine for the first time. Have I said how much I LOVE first looks?!

Doing a first look allots for time before the ceremony to take photos. LOVE THIS!

It was a gorgeous fall day and I wanted to try and give C&S a few vintage/fall looking photos.

Their ceremony was wonderful and they shared some gorgeous moments together …

We stopped at a gorgeous train stop and snagged some pictures. The first is my shot of Stefanie grabbing a couple shot and the next is my photo of that same viewpoint.

Christine became an etsy-lover throughout her wedding planning and she snagged this sign for her card table.

Christine & Shawn had taken dance lessons and rocked it out on their first dance!

I’m ending the post with this – a super fun, crazy father-daughter dance! xoxo

BOUDOIR! ALBUMS! SORRY! / Connecticut and Boston Wedding Photographers

This is going to be a bizzarre blog post of updates!

CALLING ALL MY BOUDIORIANS! Spread the word – January sessions are being set and will all be on a Sunday. We will be doing the same set up where we gather all together for one big party and a hair and makeup artist will be on site. Perfect gift for Valentine’s Day! At this point they are in CT only (working on some Boston dates) but either way, if you want a session make sure you contact me NOW. I’ve had a list of interested ladies since fall and want to ensure everyone gets a spot.

To Christine, Cristina and Lauren – thank you for your PATIENCE. I owe you each a detailed blog post with photos and a story and I promise they are coming up! I was sick and making a few deadlines and hate rushing and putting up a quick blog post. We all know I love to talk, right?

Album deadlines for any of my 2011 brides is December 1! EEEEK. This means it has to be designed and submitted by then which is insanely soon. I’ve heard from everyone I think but if you want a book for the holidays, please make sure you get in contact with me today.

(one of my favorite shots from last year’s sessions!)

Stamford Museum & Nature Center Wedding – Kim & Ian / Connecticut Wedding Photographers

Kim & Ian had a gorgeous fall day for their wedding filled with happy guests, beautiful foliage and weather that was to-die-for. What struck me most about their day was the classic New England feel that was all around them … from the church to the venue and especially the red door! (I had major SWOON for that red door Kim!) I felt super spoiled after their day because their families were so kind to me and so easy to work with (Thank you ALL!) and I had a chance to shoot at the Stamford Museum and Nature Center for the first time. But my biggest thanks is to Kim for waiting so patiently for this post … you rock. Hope Hawaii was amazing – xoxo!

It was awesomely peaceful as Kim got ready …

Kim spent a long time finding the perfect purple shoes!

Gorgeous gown and family jewelry – so special!

This little lady was so sweet … and SO well-behaved. Kudos to her mom for raising one polite, lovely little lady!

It was so nice to see gorgeous fall flowers!

Kim was awesome and left time before leaving for the church to take some bridal portraits and pictures with her family. LOVE when brides leave extra time.

The church was so beautiful – complete with a red door!

Around the church was some awesome little nooks to shoot in.

Kim and Ian had a fantastic first dance … Kim is a dance teacher at Swing Shoes and they had a full dance prepared.

Sweet speeches and lots of laughs.

The room was just so cool with lights EVERYWHERE. It was so twinkly and awesome!

I’m ending with a dance shot — this is how I remember Kim – danced the ENTIRE night! Love seeing a bride have such a great time!

A quick peek from this past weekend’s wedding in gorgeous Windsor, CT! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE classic New England gorgeousness and this beautiful train station stop! xoxo

Indian Pond Country Club Wedding – Jax & Bryan / Boston and Connecticut Wedding Photographers

There are so many ways I debated writing this post. You see, Jaclyn (Jax as we know her!) and I were freshman year roommates so we go back a bit. And, well, lets just say that Jax probably has more than a handful of embarrassing photos and stories about me. I even debated sharing one or two here. But then their amazing wedding day came and Bryan said such beautiful words to Jax and now all those silly stories about college seem insignificant. The only part of Jax’s and my story that is relevant is that 10 years ago we met and this past weekend I was honored to have been a part of her amazing wedding to Bryan.  I will, however, never forget mid-ceremony when she looked down the aisle at me where I was shooting and shot me this beautiful beam of a smile … and my heart felt such amazing joy and my eyes filled with tears. I mouthed the words “I love ya” at her and she mouthed them back. Two friends who had lost touch but reconnected on such amazingly joyful circumstances. Amazingly joyful circumstances where Bryan professed his personally-written vows to Jax … and spoke words I KNOW I will use at mine and Jeremy’s vow renewal ceremony one day … “And I am blessed to be able to spend my life with YOU.”  (Insert sobbing over keyboard now, please.)

Bryan – as someone who has known and appreciated Jax’s amazing spirit and energy – thank you; thank you for seeing all those qualities and more in her and for being so proud to share your undying affection for her in front of us all. At 18 years old I could never have imagined such a wonderful man was waiting to whisk her off her feet one day and that I’d be there to witness the powerful commitment of your love to her.

And Jax – thank you for still wanting to be my friend after all the silliness and drama I am sure I was to live with! You infectious joy, spunk, sass and kindess makes you an incredible person and I feel so grateful we were reconnected through all this. I adore you both! xoxo

Jax MADE all the decor. COME ONE, REALLY? Amazing, amazing job!

GA-GA gorgeous Kate Spade shoes. SWOON!

Jax was assisted by Kayla … her best friend who I heard about back in college and who I was lucky enough to shoot on her wedding day, too!

Jax – you are stunning.

I am now obsessed with the bridesmaids/mom/family reaction to seeing the bride for the first time all dressed. LOVE!

Jax and Bryan opted to see each other before the ceremony for a first look. LOVE THIS MORE THAN I CAN EVER SAY!

OBSESSED with Jax’s personality in these photos.

Seeing each other first lets us do formals before, too. BEST thing ever!

The photos below aren’t the best to be paired together but I am in love with both – the one on the left makes me so joyful – someone clearly ADORES their soul mate.

The ceremony was awesome … and I loved catching Kayla & Jax doing their signature laugh shot together! Ladies – this is almost a clone of this one!

This is what two people look like who are about to kiss for the first time as husband and wife. H – O – T!

Love a good shoe shot.

Jax made all of the decor and that included the inside stuff, too. Jax – you are amazing!

Bryan’s sisters were so sweet – and had a good time at the reception!

Best friends!

I’m ending the post with this: either Bryan is imitating Michael Jackson or he is making sure everyone knows he’s got a ring on it! xoxo
