Lately, I’ve been dealing with some exceptional moms at my childrens photo shoots. I can’t even begin to tell you what a prepared mom/parent does to help make amazing child portraits. I figured I would share two photos recently that I just cannot.get.enough.of and explain WHY parent participation is so incredibly important to making amazing photos.
Let’s face it – I can sing and jump around and yell out to the kids but … it is so much nicer when the moms do it and let me focus on taking photos that capture the children’s’ personalities and silliness. The two adorable kids had AWESOME parents/moms. They brought toys, change of clothes (numerous), adorable props/hats, snacks (sooooo important!) and most importantly, they brought their A-game. So thank you — for being amazing parents who realize how fun childrens photo shoots can be, especially when we get little gems like these photos to have forever to look back on.
Meet Paige. She learned an adorable trick to show her parents that her mouth was empty and ready for more snacks. And then she realized that when she stuck out her tongue everyone (and I mean, EVERYONE who walked by us) laughed and could not get enough of her. She was to.die.for during our shoot. Kudos to Paige’s dad for making sure I didn’t fall in the partially drained fountain I was standing in to take this photo.

Meet Owen. He already took some fabulous 6 month photos with me and came to rock out his one-year shoot, too. His mom was LIFE CHANGING to this shoot and between her and my awesome sister who joined us, there was no stopping the adorable little display of laughing, smiling and showing off that Owen did for us. I mean, look at this face. (Thank god I shoot adorable kids who help kill my insanely crazy baby urge.) Owen’s mom came with outfits, snacks and was ready to dance around me while I laid and crawled on my stomach taking photos.

So, thanks MOMS … and dads … and aunts and uncles and everyone else who comes along to shoots and makes MAGIC HAPPEN!
