My blog is finally updated and showing beautiful pretty bow-ness from Sandy at Roseville Designs! Yay! And I can’t think of a better post to kick off all this new prettiness than my dear friend Caitlin and her family. Life has this funny way of weaving and turning and connecting you with special people that you just NEED in your life. I’m constantly amazed at how I’m connected to such special people … like I was just waiting to turn a corner and find them. Caitlin is one of those dear friends I treasure … and she shares a similar love of beer like I do – we are meant to be! Enjoy this spread of photos from my time with her, her hubby and their sweet little ladies.

Ella’s dream is to be a real-life princess … and so Caitlin let her dress up in her princess costume at the end of the shoot! Caitlin even brought little crowns and everyone got dressed up to give Ella a “real life princess family photo.” It was really fun and we laughed A TON while people jogged by us, mouths open, just staring at us.

to logo or not to logo?

I’m in spring cleaning mode at home – organizing my basement and purging as much as I can and it’s now seeping into my business; I’m spring cleaning my website and blog. In the next few weeks, Roseville Designs’ beautiful work will be seen on my blog … just some small changes but pretty ones! I’m cleaning up the blog a lot – basically removing anything that isn’t a necessity. It’s time and I’m really excited about it.

Lately I’ve been battling to logo or not to logo my photos. I feel VERY strongly about logo-ing photos – they are my work and I feel it’s so very important to protect myself and to brand them with my logo. But lately (and maybe it’s my quest to clean up my blog and make it a lot less cluttered) it just feels that the frames and logos around my photos are everywhere and they are just so … messy. It just feels cluttered. So – I’m asking for opinions – especially from brides: to logo or not to logo? XO

We’d all dreamed of Kelly + Brian’s wedding being a beautiful spring wedding day; beach photos, sand under our feet, boardwalks and parasols … and then the rain threatened to take the day out. Kelly never let it get to her. Instead, she scoured locations we could shoot in (that had beautiful overhangs for rain protection) and kept a “this isn’t going to dictate whether my day is amazing or not” kind of attitude. And you know what? The rain held off and she and Brian were given the most FABULOUS weather day. EVER. Cheers to you both – to happy attitudes, love and beautiful memories (rain or shine). I heart you guys!

Major kudos + love to my second shooter, Sandra, who came up with amazing shots all day including this awesome ring shot … and she let me copy her and take it, too!

making coffee + dreaming

My morning ritual is the always the same; a stumble down the stairs, a quick tap on of the t.v with my left hand to ensure I hear the familiar sounds of the news broadcast and a final burst to the kitchen to start the coffee. I’ve done it so many times I could do it blindfolded. It’s funny how a daily ritual becomes so second nature that we don’t even have to think about how to do it – we just DO. My hands move about the countertops, from mason jar to bean grinder to french press to … warm coffee in my hands. And then I sit and dream … about the day and the days after that and how I’ll get it all done. And before I know it, it’s morning again and I’m stumbling down the stairs, ready to do it all again.

It’s been a whirlwind week; a quick trip to Puerto Rico for a destination wedding and then immediately to Boston for my best friend’s photo shoot … with her new baby. While shooting, our other friend brought along the other new member in our group (you may remember her momma here!) and I just had to snap a quick round of photos. bow wedding inspiration

My ‘material sprucing up‘ included a very close look at what things I am drawn to and when Sandy (Roseville Designs) and I chatted, I kept sending her things that included bows, ruffles and pearls. (my photo inspiration board looked like a banana republic/j crew catalogue I kid you not.) Sandy decided I was incorporating a bow into my new materials. And so … a bow it is. My new materials – business cards, note cards and online materials all have this bee-autiful bow element incorporated into it that I just A.D.O.R.E.

So today I figured I’d share my love affair with bows by creating a swoon palette with all things wedding bow related. Enjoy!

country chic wedding inspiration

The Wedding Loft ladies and I teamed up for a country-chic inspired wedding shoot with real-life couple Jess + Dave. The shoot was filled with The Wedding Loft colors (mint, peach and silver) and sweet touches; an antique barn door, succulents, kraft paper and lace, little touches of silver, a rustic bench, a mercury-glass inspired wedding cake and cowgirl boots.

sparkles + glitter + client packaging

I’m a glitter-lover.

See … I confessed it. I’m that silly, sparkly, glitter-loving girl that KNOWS she shouldn’t love it (or wear it for that matter) but I just can’t help myself. My sparkly silver glitter TOMS are my prized possession. And so when it came time to spruce up my marketing materials and client packaging, I approached the amazingly talented Sandy of Roseville Designs and begged for glitter cards and sparkly boxes. Sandy gently reminded me that there are “nice ways to do sparkle” and “not-so-nice ways to do sparkle” and it seemed that my ideas fell into the “not-so-nice” bucket.

After A LOT of back and forth (basically me changing my mind about 1303506 times), the final product is … perfect. It’s totally ME … and has the perfect touch of sparkle, femininity, chic-adorable and just plain pretty (if I do say so myself). I’m not going to dissect it and photograph it all to share … if you are a client then you will see it yourself! Here’s a tiny little peek into one sparkly piece, courtesy the incredible Little Random Details.

And as Sandy reminded me, my assembly of my wedding client packaging looks darn near identical to this hysterical scene from Love Actually. ENJOY!
