Connecticut Wedding Cake Designers – Meet Erica Obrien Cake Design

I can’t take any credit for connecting with Erica from Erica Obrien Cake Design. She reached out to me and immediately wanted to collaborate … I love vendors who want to collaborate and understand the importance and fun in teaming up. (SO many incredible things come from collaboration and teamwork!) Our initial plans were to meet and just chat … maybe I’d snap a few photos of her stuff and what not. But then she contacted me for a DIY ombre hearts project that she was approached about and from there on out, it’s been a fabulous run. We were lucky enough that Wedding Chicks featured her project and we were SHOCKED when it was pinned on Pinterest more than 22,000 times!

To all my brides – if you are able to use Erica, you should go for it. Her cakes have been featured in every wedding magazine you could dream of and they are like little pieces of art. What constantly strikes me is how flawless they are … and what an incredible presence they have; they are so striking.

This was the super sweet cake she made for her grand opening. You all know I have a small monogrammed obsession.

I love this cake. I have a small obsession with gold metallic lately … and I love how unique this is. How her brain comes up with this stuff I will never know!

Glenn Island Engagement Photos – Dina & Jason

We lucked out a few weeks ago … the weather was perfect and Dina and Jason brought their A game for their engagement shoot at Glenn Island Park in New Rochelle, NY. I almost hugged Dina when I saw her gorgeous blue dress (ladies, picking an outfit for your engagement shoot that you look FABULOUS in is SO important!). Jason has a huge interest in photography and was enthusiastic and really a fabulous sport about taking photos. Thank you both for being a lot of fun and just being happy as we spent the afternoon together.

The last time I was at Glenn Island Park was at the very beginning of my photography career. It was fun to come back now, with more confidence and many more ideas on where to shoot!

Another gorgeous location, another beautiful couple!

Connecticut Real Weddings – Meet Adrienne & Andrew

Adrienne and Andrew share some happy, private memories with me. Let’s leave it at that. Over the course of their wedding we’ve had a new friendship … one that I cherish for it’s laughing, mojitos and fabulous company. Adrienne & Andrew’s love story is one of devotion and a strong commitment to family and what that ultimately means at the end of the day. EVERYTHING. It means everything. I admire Adrienne’s unselfishness and kind spirit in remembering that nothing is that important as long as you have family around to love and support you. All the other stuff just fades and you’re left to be reminded to live in the moment and love the family around you.

And so love they did. And on a PICTURE PERFECT weather day. I remember saying in the middle of formals that we probably wouldn’t see a day with as perfect weather all season. Thank you weather gods!

The day started out with the fabulous Larissa Lake and team.

Adrienne and Andrew opted for a FIRST LOOK. I do not need to go on and on and on about why this is the best decision you will EVER MAKE.

Barns at Wesleyan Wedding Photos – Carrie & Matt

Our meeting and engagement session all happened in Boston. Ahhh. No matter where I go, Boston will always be my most.favorite.place.on.earth. So when Carrie and Matt met with me over drinks in Boston and shared Carrie was a Bentley alum like myself, I knew it was a perfect match.

I was first struck by Carrie’s poised and elegant manner that was coupled with this fierce, organized way (totally a Bentley girl!). Matt was the other half; all smiles, a little nervous, reminding me that they’d never done this “whole wedding thing” before and were happy to listen to advice and what not from me. I just loved them. There was something about their balance that I appreciated and I enjoyed seeing their interactions over the last year as we did engagement photos and pre-wedding planning. What I never get tired of, and what I got a huge share of with Carrie and Matt was those little moments … the times when Matt just gazed at Carrie like there wasn’t another person in the world he’d ever dreamed was made for him. You know, like he just knew that she was that woman he’d been waiting for.

And so last weekend Matt gazed … and gazed and gazed and gazed at Carrie; during the ceremony, as she promised her commitment to him, during the formal photos, as she worked her incredible gown and as they celebrated, with family and friends cheering them on. He knew she was the one made for him and that their life together was off to a beautiful start. Carrie and Matt, I wish you both a fabulous life, filled with many moments of gazing at each other and thanking god for bringing you both together.

I really wanted a milky, dreamy shoe shot … thank you April light and good windows.

Carrie and her ladies were made up by the incredible Larissa Lake and team. LOVE THIS TEAM.

I hid in the side room from time to time and snuck detail shots.

Everyone was determined to sneak glances out the window to see the guys heading to the church.

Her gown was Modern Trousseau from White Dress by the Shore and it was literally made for her body. I have never been to a wedding where I overheard so many guests saying “WOW, that gown was made for her!”

Carrie’s sisters and mom hid away with her while she climbed into her gown.
