the drive home

This past weekend my parents treated Jeremy and I to a weekend in the Cape with them … a chance for Jeremy to get a tiny little taste of the Cape since he wasn’t able to join us this summer for our annual vacation. Jeremy had warned me well before we headed there that my phone was being CONFISCATED and I was not going to be checking email and updating my FB status. ha!

After a wonderful weekend, we headed home together. I’ve come to realize that our drive homes together are some of the best times we share. We’re locked in a car, no where to go and no football games or photo editing to distract us. It’s these times where we sit and just talk. Really, it’s quite amusing when I think about it. We can’t find time to do this unless we are locked together in a vehicle! But in the end, all that matters is we do it; we sit there and spill our guts out for lack of better words and we dream big. And then we arrive home and as we unpack the car, we ‘bring’ a few of those dreams inside and I’m left energized and thinking of all the possibilities to come. I’m excited for the future and what’s to come and certainly glad he’s the dude I’m doing it all with.

I know exactly what you mean. It’s one of the reasons I love the road trips that Matt and I take so much. We also tend to dream big when we are hiking or out on a walk.
